As a keen junior sportsman who spent a lot of time on the injured list, I was always interested in sports medicine. The idea that you could have a career helping people to continue playing sport and participating in exercise was really attractive to me. I was steered toward to podiatry by my long-time physio, who highlighted the fantastic job prospects in a growing profession. After some research, I applied and was accepted to study podiatry at QUT.
I have many fond memories from my career that has provided me so many fantastic opportunities. My fondest memories are from my time at Aspetar, Qatar Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Hospital. I lived for 6 years in Qatar, working in an amazing facility alongside world leaders in orthopaedics, sports medicine, physiotherapy and sport science. Staff in the hospital were from over 100 different countries around the world, providing an amazing multi-cultural experience in sports medicine.
SEPA provides a great avenue to build professional connections, access to advanced professional development opportunities and a supportive environment to mentor emerging podiatrists. I love the fact that SEPA is focused on sports and exercise in podiatry, an area I am truly passionate about.
